Moving
I am sitting down to write a post in the midst of packing because, I myself am sick of seeing Postcards from Buster at the top of my blog. Thanks DVC for spurring me on.
We are leaving this humid hot Houston for humid hot Lafayette. I wish the weather would at least be different from this giant pizza stone. At least there are pools to jump into, even if they feel like bath water. If you could see our apartment right now...man...how many boxes can you fit into a 2 bed/1 bath apartment??? A LOT! I think I have counted close to 70.
I have mixed feeling about moving...happy to move to our hometown and closer to more family, sad to leave family and really good friends here. It is easier knowing the place we are going.
We have started the "This is the last..." time. You know, The last Sunday, the Last meal with friends, the last small group, etc... I am just so happy we were here when our dear friends, Paul and Jen, gave birth to their daughter this morning.
This move is different because the 2 cities are just 4 hours apart. We will be back often. We expect our friends in Houston to come visit us in LA, where Dallas will ride to work in pirogue, I will cook alligator stew, and Elias will have the "tickest" Cajun accent when he starts talking.

I was pretty tired of seeing Post Cards from Buster too!
I have to say I'm so glad to be on this side of the leap...I remember how scary and hard it was. And of course, things are still hard and still scary, but hey, there's no going back now...and, strangely, there's a lot of comfort in that.
I know that you're leaving great friends behind in Houston. I hope that we Capertons can pick up some of that slack. For starters, you and Elias will have to join Jed and I at Barnes & Noble on Monday mornings for Toddler Story Time. Also, Cajun Sno (thanks to your recommendation) has become one of our favorite stops, so save your change for sno cones! We are so ready for you guys to be here!

We'll miss you guys. I'm glad I was able to come to your "farewell" dinner. Keep us updated via the blog. I'll always be ready and willing to give you a hard time for not updating more. Only four hours, huh? That's not too bad.
